Internet Protocol Address - every computer and website on the Internet has a number (like a telephone number) that is used to identify it and communicate with other computers. The IP number is written as four numbers separated by dots - for example: 74.54.75.213. Because IP addresses can be hard for people to remember, friendly names were created called domain names (e.g. oscworks.com.au).
